Intimate Family Farm Wedding / Melissa + Mike's

Melissa and Mike's Family Farm Wedding was a peaceful and unforgettable day. The wedding took place in Melissa's childhood home, a farm filled with memories and love. I love documenting intimate countryside weddings - I mean who doesn’t? There’s something truly magical about being surrounded with wood accents, warm earthy tones, rolling hills, ponds, and sunsets in an open field that you just can’t get anywhere else.  This wedding, I do have to admit, surely hit home… as one of the many reasons I am capturing weddings is because of Melissa. I met Melissa at Brock University studying Sport Management, tying my film background and love for sports media. After graduating we created a little company called First N' Goal Productions, specializing in athlete recruitment videos and sports photography, building awareness for amateur sport. During that time Melissa told me I should get into weddings and asked me if I would film her best friend Alyssa's wedding. At the time, I didn’t really know about all things pretty, as putting my hair in a pony tail was my “up do!”  haha.

But I must admit, after Alyssa and Gary's wedding I was hooked with capturing and telling stories. I began falling in love with capturing authentic, raw, and emotional moments, and always being challenged to grow and perfect my craft. Learning to allow the light and my heart to guide me to help tell a story as authentically as possible and trusting my own intuition are key.

After Alyssa's wedding, I then had the honour of capturing both of her friends’ Emily and Emma's wedding. Now it was finally her turn!!

Melissa and Mike's easy-going wedding was a total dream! The bright blue skies and perfect weather made for an amazing day. Mike started things off right with some baseball gifts for the boys and a few drinks to get the party started. Meanwhile, Melissa spent some quality time with her fur babies, the girls, and her family while getting her hair and makeup done.

One of the most special moments of the day was making Melissa's mom cry and her first look with her dad. It was so emotional and heartwarming to witness and capture. The ceremony was just as heartfelt and special, but I do have to admit the confetti bomb at the end was the most amazing moment I EVER had the honour of capturing. And, at sunset, Mel and I had a blast playing around with her dress and sun flares!

But let's talk about the dance floor - it was a total riot! I didn't want the party to end with everyone partying it up so hard (drinking the best signature cocktails) and being so silly. Mike and his Chippendales killed it on the dance floor. Melissa and Mike's wedding was one for the books! Wish I could relive their day with them again!

LOVE + LIGHT,

Katie
